Abstract

This study adapts the Career Goal Discrepancies Scale (CGDS) into Turkish and examines its psychometric properties in a university sample. Participants consisted of 353 university students (223 females and 131males) in a state university. First order and second order confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the original four dimensions factor structure of the CGDS. For concurrent validity, significant relationships were found between the CGDS and the Beck … Scale. While Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient was found to be .88 for the whole scale, Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficients were found to be .71, .76, .78 and .77 for the Success Difference, Effort Difference, Standard Difference and Ability Difference subscales, respectively. The results indicated that the CGDS could be considered as a valid and reliable tool to measure the career goal discrepancies of young adults.
