Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between five factor personality traits and psychological well-being. In the study, a questionnaire was used as a data collection method. A total of 311 students, 193 female and 118 male, selected from undergraduate and associate degree students at a state university, constituted the participants of the study. The students were asked to fill in the questionnaire according to their personality traits, and the data obtained were analysed with the help of confirmatory factor analysis, correlation and regression analyses. The analyses on the effect of five factor personality traits on psychological well-being revealed that extraversion, conscientiousness, agreeableness and openness to innovation among the five factor personality traits had a positive and significant effect on students‘ psychological well-being, while neuroticism among the five factor personality traits had a negative and significant effect on students’ psychological well-being.
