The Effect of Corporate Governance Perceptions on the Competitive Levels of Private Hospitals – The Case of Ankara Province

Abstract

Corporate governance has spread rapidly, especially in recent years, and has reached a remarkable point for businesses. Errors and misinformation seen especially in the financial reports of large enterprises around the world have led to increased attention on corporate governance. Developing different strategies for private hospitals in competition has become one of the top priorities. Corporate governance in the healthcare sector creates success and trust for hospitals. The aim of this study is to determine the impact of managers' perceptions on corporate governance on the competitive levels and strategies of private hospitals and to contribute to increasing awareness about corporate governance. In the study, a survey was conducted with the managers of hospitals with corporate management in Ankara and their opinions were taken. A 20-question survey was applied to the participants and the results were analyzed. According to the research findings, it has been observed that corporate governance affects competition positively. This result also reveals that private hospitals that provide services in the health sector must have corporate governance and strengthen corporate governance in order to be effective in competition.
