Abstract

Medical tourism has become significant for countries from various perspectives. In the current environment of increased competition and uncertainty, it is imperative for countries to enhance their performance in medical tourism by identifying the areas where they excel and giving priority to these areas. The aim of this study is to provide evidence-based information by evaluating the status of medical tourism practices in Turkey and determining the prioritized medical specialty in the field of medical tourism. The study was conducted by surveying 19 experts specialized in health tourism. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method was employed to identify the prioritized medical specialty in medical tourism in Turkey. The AHP analysis revealed that the top three medical specialties in which priority should be given in Turkey's medical tourism are "Plastic Surgery, Oncology, and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery." In conclusion, this study serves as a valuable resource for examining various aspects of medical tourism, understanding Turkey's strengths in healthcare services, and shaping marketing strategies accordingly. To maximize Turkey's potential in medical tourism, further analysis and strategic planning are necessary.
